アメリカの作曲家 H.C.Work による有名な歌曲です。原題は"Grandfather's Clock"。日本でもおなじみのメロディーですね。ちょっと哀しげな歌詞が切なく胸に響きます。おじいさんが亡くなって時計が止まってしまったという内容はほぼ同じですが、日本語と英語で微妙に違っているところもあります。たとえば日本語ではおじいさんは100歳まで生きたことになっていますが、英語では90歳になっています。
オカリナとギターによる生演奏で一人多重録音しています。
